The Fullness of Time
02:46
|

I'd like to speak to you
In the daylight, in the sunshine,
in the right mind to reach you
In the fullness of time
I can say that I tried
You can say that you liked it
I'm afraid that you're lying
You know I don't mind
You know It's alright
I can salvage my pride, say that I tried, that's the truth
Sometimes when I'm too tired to stand
I look at my life and it's all for you
Sometimes you've no idea what it's like
Sometimes of course you do
You know I'm alright
That will have to suffice
Nobody likes it, no fault of mine
I know that I tried
I think it's alright!
I'll be fine in the fullness of time

Such a lonely child
Loneliest girl in the restaurant
That's her in the tiara
Those are all her mother's friends
He fixed my car today
Was all she managed to say
Let's get these tables out of the way
It's time to take your picture
He fixed my car today
Pretty sure that was him, anyway

Someplace To Be

Don't tell me, don't tell me
I don't want to know
and I've heard it before
you're moving up north
There's a mountain of snow
yeah, i heard it gets cold
if it gets old you could always come home and hang out with me
There's people to meet
The people are proud
They're creeping me out
Learning the streets
A carpet of green
or so it would seem
anywhere that you go is someplace to be
Greater than the bold text in your word cloud raining down on me
so many new proper nouns i'm drowning
it's flooding the street
they gilded it cheap
anywhere you go is someplace to be
It's snowing!
like mowing but cold
i could see that get old
Holding it down
in our old hometown
weird without you around
anywhere you could go is someplace to be
anywhere you could go is someplace to be
tell you what, you could always come home why don't let's see

My Personal Ballad
02:01
|

I wrote a book for Random House, it was years before it hit the shelves
My friends in the business helped me out
but mainly they just helped themselves
The book’s about two lovers
In a house of glass
“Their's was a love that couldn’t last”
I wrote a book for Random House and now I’m all alone
I wrote a book, it wasn’t good
Random House is not a home
I built an office building and it took me nearly 18 years
From concept to completion, I shed a lot of blood, sweat and tears
Then I named it after you
Seemed the least thing that I could do
Everybody likes it, or at least that’s what they say
I’ve never been inside, I’ve too much pride, drive past it everyday
Why does it take so long?
They always ask me
Like I’m supposed to know
Submitting the plans to the city
Putting my ideas through committee
Working hard and trying to look pretty but I’m missing you just so
I invented an adhesive for use in the auto industry
Won’t bore you with the details but I’m keeping lots of cars on the streets
So it’s basically duct tape, but it dries like glue
It still rips my heart in two
I know you don’t believe me
You know what? I don’t mind
I know you don’t believe me cause I get that all the time
My story is just that, it isn’t yours, it’s mine
My ballad isn’t yours to be believed
